The Foundation: Canastota Development Corporation dba LaunchPoint is leveraging decades of regional expertise to provide a stable, high-resource environment where innovation isn't just encouraged—it's engineered.
The Origin: In February of 1962, the Canastota Jaycees spearheaded the formation of the Canastota Development Corporation. This was incorporated to facilitate new businesses and start-ups and to encourage and promote local economic development. The CDC also became the lead agency to plan and get work started on what is now the Canastota Industrial Park.
In 1988, CDC built and owned a business incubator building in the Canastota Industrial Park and incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit. Since then, CDC has assisted many businesses including providing below market space during their start-up phase, enabling them toinvest more capital in their ideas.
LaunchPoint is an incubator and coworking hub designed to support business growth, encourage entrepreneurship, and strengthen the local economy by creating a space where ideas can develop into sustainable ventures. We bridge the gap between traditional economic development and the modern creator economy.
